So, what exactly do teachers do on a Professional Development Day? The simple answer is that they engage in activities intended to improve their skill as teachers as well as the overall operation of each school and the district as a whole. On our most recent P.D. day (Feb. 17), the activities included:
- An introduction to the new LCS Strategic Plan and follow up activities that focused attention on the new Vision, Mission, and Goals of the District.
- Completion of a survey regarding Indicators of School Quality as required by Michigan's school accountability program Education YES!
- Review of a 25 ft. long poster created by Curriculum Director Tamara Webster outlining a typical day of instruction at LCS from Preschool through Grade 12. This gave the teachers an opportunity to see what is happening in each of the other buildings.
- A presentation and associated activities from a KRESA Consultant on the topic of Questioning Strategies to promote student comprehension and engagement.
